My traditional Métis crafting journey began in 2015, and has expanded extensively with the pandemic and becoming the stay at home parent. I don’t think a day goes by where a new skill or technique, isn’t learned or improved upon. As with many other indigenous artists, I believe learning and practicing traditional crafts is healing. In particular I enjoy the creative outlet of making new beading designs, but I’m always finding new things I want to learn. In the past I’ve made moccasins, ribbon skirts, ribbon shirts, and regalia. Nothing makes me feel more proud, or fills me with more joy, than seeing something I’ve created out in the world.
